About Us

"We get involved in research to improve Stroke and Aphasia services in Sheffield"

We were set up in 2013 to enhance patient and public involvement in Stroke research.

Our Vision

We bring together those affected by Stroke to inform research. We are a group of individuals that use our unique knowledge of living with, and with those affected it, to improve services in Sheffield and help shape future research.

Who are we?

Group members have all been affected by Stroke and/or Aphasia including patients and family members. We have a shared interest in enhancing patient care, improving understanding, and helping to develop new treatments and ways to manage symptoms. We are friendly and welcoming to new members, both patients and researchers alike.

What do we do?

Our main activity is to advise researchers from the Sheffield region involved in researching Stroke and Aphasia. We offer clinical and scientific researchers feedback on their research proposals, ideas to improve patient involvement and assistance in communicating their research to wider audiences.

How do we do it?

The group holds regular meetings at which researcher’s come to and directly discuss their research. We also hold close links with the local institutions involved in Stroke and Aphasia care to further aid research and share this work with the wider community.

What don't we do?

We can't offer grants.
