Are you a researcher?

This patient and public involvement panel is made up of both Stroke survivors and members of their support network, and is currently meeting online once a month via Microsoft Teams on Mondays from 11am - 12noon.

If you are interested in bringing your research ideas, study documents, grant applications or approved projects to us for discussion and feedback, please contact Jo Burke to book a session via jo.burke@nhs.net

Each meeting has capacity for 2 research projects, and then a final session to discuss ongoing work & collaboration opportunities.

Please note:

  • Any presentation materials or feedback documents you provide that are not under review need to be aphasia friendly/in an appropriately accessible format for this patient group. Please follow the Stroke Association Accessible Information Guidelines available here: accessible_information_guidelines.pdf1_.pdf (stroke.org.uk) and/or contact the panel coordinator for further support.

  • The facilitator/panel aim to follow best practice for online meetings with participants with communication and cognitive difficulties (our group advice sheet is available on request)

  • The session works best when presentation time is limited so that half/one third of the time is available for discussion.

  • The service is free to Sheffield researchers. If you would like to use the panel for extended/repeated PPIE involvement, you should explore further funding options including: https://www.rds-yh.nihr.ac.uk/public-involvement/rds-yh-public-involvement-fund/
